For Mother's Day this year, dear Daddy shoveled compost for about 4 hrs straight, enabling us to plant out our new veggie boxes and reclaimed row in the raspberry patch. The box on the left has five varieties of tomatoes, two peppers, and space for more. The box on the right is just transplanted perennial herbs for the moment, with plenty of room for any market or nursery finds over the next few weeks (or later in the season). We have strawberries and a neat Pineapple Sage in a half wine barrel fronting the reclaimed row, and underplanted scarlet runner beans and sugar snap peas with a couple zucchini.
It was a lovely 70+ degree day, and we had a wonderful time working in the garden. Hope joined us for lunch, and then took a nice long nap, followed by some trike time with Auntie Martha, and sliding at the playground. The new grass is filling in nicely, and we're very pleased with how it's all shaping up! The only downside to all this was that over-doing it took its toll, and we experienced about 2.5 hrs of strong (yet disorganized) contractions in the evening. But since they did eventually subside, I'm sure there was good progress made in that department as well!
