Daddy B deserves some sort of prize for his valiant work assembling nearly all our IKEA purchases this afternoon. I will take some more photos tomorrow so you can see how the room is shaping up, but here is the key piece - the crib - complete with curious interloper. Obviously, no mattress etc. yet - no worries, since Baby 2 will start off sleeping in the bassinet in our bedroom (and napping in the Boppy wherever we happen to be around the house during the day).
Instead of planning out a color scheme ahead of time, we decided to keep the walls white (technically, Devine Whip), buy all furniture in birch, and to add color in pops and bursts as we go. As the west-facing room, it does get particularly toasty in summer, but also benefits from changing light as the day evolves. So this seems like a good choice so far.
One last gift to ourselves: the Merry Maids will clean our house top to bottom this week. And yes, Mama, they even wash the baseboards. :)

Wow, where do I start. I need that number to Merry Maids pronto! Do they do cobwebs way way up high even out of my considerable reach?Suggestion, west room is hot, why fight it, mural of scorching desert sunset on the wall. You look great!!
Yay, the Boppy returns for an encore. Tosh, you look great... and, so does the crib.
