Bastille Day at Jamison Park

Although the festivities did not technically take place on Bastille Day, Hope celebrated her first Quatorze Juillet over the weekend. Portland's Alliance Française pulls out all the stops, with each year bigger than the last.

This year's celebration took place Saturday at Jamison Park (see also: Too Darn Hot). Temperatures were up in the 90s, but we spent most of our visit cooling off in the awesome fountain, which boasts a rising and falling "tide" as well as cascading waterfall effects. In fact, we were so entranced by the water at one point that our stroller suddenly became inundated and we had to retreat a few yards to higher ground!

After playing in the fountain, we spotted a vacant shady table at Fenouil, a lovely French bistro on the park, and pulled over for hors d'oeuvres and aperitifs, including a cocktail dubbed "Le Zuzu!" Pearl District locals Chris and Sarah ended up joining us, and there was plenty of rosé to toast the 14th.

...Les souris dansent! Bonne Fête! :) NB&H
