This Wednesday's zMom playdate was at our house! We sort of bit off more than we could chew, but persevered and chewed right through 5 sets of moms and babies making chicken enchiladas with Jo.
Jo has started a new business (Love Joy Food) and generously offered h er time feeding us a delicious lunch of tortilla espanola, and preparing enchiladas, even filling most of them despite our best intentions to do so ourselves. I can tell you it was a great relief to have dinner ready after such a busy day!
Folks arrived at the house around 11:30, and the babies were so mellow that they stuck around until about 3:00, with the exception of Christine, who learned the hard way that staying home is the best bet on the heels of one's 4-month vaccinations. It was nice to get that extra time with Christine, while Jackson slept soundly up in the crib, and Hope napped lightly on the couch. With a couple of Sam Adamses in hand, we caught up on all the other stuff, babies aside. It's interesting and wonderful now to have relationships with these ladies on multiple levels - - at first just as peers/co-workers, but now as moms and true friends.
Chelsea and Clark couldn't make it this week, but we'll see them again soon. The new faces for our readers are those of Jacqueline and Rose Cobbett (in spiffy Zutano stripes). Jacqueline and I sat next to each other for about a year at Ziba, before she and husband Jamian moved out to Rochester to work at Kodak. She was super-sweet to bring Saint Cupcakes for me and Leigh - - we share a birthday this Sunday! J&J are now back in Portland, and had baby Rose just about a month ago, a touch early - - isn't she precious? It's wild to look at her and recall Hope as a newborn. Especially when we place them side by side. Sigh - time flies.
Also of note: the Tiny Love Gyminis gifted to us by Aunts Martha and Jan/Phil were a huge hit with the other kids! We were really glad to have two of them! Sophie and Jordan were both digging the chimes. Okay enough babble - - I know you're just here for the photos... ;) xoxo - N
