Preschool Princess

Here she is - the Preschool Princess! First day of school, and other photos supplied via the school's awesome family share web site. You can see Hope is already very busy with her new friends.

The teachers are great - there are 2 for 16 kids (9 boys, 7 girls), which seems very manageable in the nice large space. Each day, kids sign in, writing their names with a wipe-off marker on their laminated "save card" which they can assign to anything they wish to save at the end of the day to work with again their next time in the classroom. The class theme/name is "The Forest: Bats" - I'm pretty sure Hope voted for "unicorns" but she seems fine with it. (I haven't told her the Tuesday/Thursday class is "The Forest: Fairies.")

Every day, Zane comes with us for drop-off, takes off his own jacket, and washes his hands in the bathroom like the other kids. He usually then settles in the reading area with a book. It's very sweet. He doesn't seem to mind leaving pretty much immediately - just wants that moment each day when he gets to participate like the other kids. When we pick Hope up, they have a sweet reunion - he is usually the first person into the classroom when the door is opened, and she has been greeting him with a big hug, and showing him off to her friends and teachers.

I especially love the photos of Hope working with clay. Makes me think of Babushka. So far, so good.
