New Digs

SOLD....to us! It was a cool feeling to finally see the sign turn over. (I wonder how long Billy will keep it up there? He's kind of an aggressive self promoter...bus bench advertisements, etc.)

But anyway - here we are! Keys in hand. Thank you, thank you, Grandparents B for helping with the transaction. Are you *sure* you don't want to move here and live at 2011? Fenced yard, heritage fruit trees...close to Co-op...pay our mortgage as rent, and it's yours!

The kids went BONKERS tonight at the new place. Hope walked up the front stairs and took off immediately for upstairs and her new room. She was particularly impressed with her spacious (kind-of-walk-in) closet, since it featured a wire "bench" (shoe rack? leave-behind.) - - "this is my bench, mommy! [proud smile]" Zane could not stop squealing and doing his funny little circle dance. He got so excited, in fact, that he pooped his pants. Seriously. See video for a small taste of his palpable delight.

Former owners left only good surprises behind: a vase full of fresh flowers from the garden, a fistful of garlic heads drying on the deck, a bottle of wine (David Hill Winery in fact, which is where Tom & Becky were married), a book on the Prairie style of architecture (which I'd been eyeing on our walk-through), a fridge full of good beer, eggs (okay?), some oranges, and a small watermelon. In the basement "wine cabinet," we found a bottle of Roederer champagne, and there is a turkey in the basement freezer.

Oh - and they left their welcome mat, too, which was a nice touch. And hand soap in all the bathrooms, toilet paper...the essentials. Also, a box of dog biscuits, with two laid out by the stairs on the deck, as if to say "we come out here in the mornings and offer biscuits to our friends the dogs next door" (said dogs were barking the WHOLE time we were there - but then, we're used to that by now since we are currently surrounded).

Compare this with our last experience, where we were "gifted" a garage full of dirty garden tools, a HUGE broken freezer, a food dehydrator, bags of wire clothes hangers, and a lot of filthy cabinets...CLEARLY, we are movin' on up!

Anyway. I'm sure there will be much posting coming up on this subject, so on with the photos. There would have been more snapped inside, except we are not yet child-proofed, so I was busy chasing children instead of documenting. Enjoy!

Congratulations again! It's gorgeous, especially with the little monkeys in it.
