Family Night at Hope's Preschool! The kids wrote and performed a short play they titled "Racecar Starbucks," in which coffee time is suddenly disturbed when a racecar comes careening through the wall at the Starbucks at 37th and Hawthorne. (It slips in some oil.) There were small-group field trips to the location for observation and set-building purposes, and the kids even made their own little green aprons (Hope drew a mermaid on the front of hers, inspired by the Starbucks logo).
Hope turned in an award-winning performance as Barista 1. The adults were supposed to notice action and call it out as it unfolded, but we were all so rapt with the adorableness, it pretty much unfolded in silence, but of course ended in thunderous applause.
